In each McKean County school district, teams function to promote the McKean County Strengthening Families Program and other prevention based programs.
In Bradford, a PROSPER (Promoting School-community-university Partnerships to Enhance Resiliency) Team has been put into place through help from the Prevention Research Center at Penn State. Not only has the team helped promote SFP, but they have also assisted in bringing the All Stars Program to Fretz Middle School. In the other school districts; Kane, Otto-Eldred, Port Allegany and Smethport; Prevention Teams meet to help SFP reach as many families as possible.
The teams are made up of school personnel, alumni parents and youth, business members, organization employees and SFP Program Coordinators. If you are interested in joining the team in your district, contact Betty Jo Wilcox (362-1834) or Casey Schillinger (887-9344).
